Travelling, Thinking and Doing,

The change in atmosphere is literally palpable when the sun sets on the last day of January. Following 6 weeks of frenetic ceaseless activity servicing the holiday crowds in Robe we all take a relaxing deep breathe. Then get up the next morning and start all over again. With what seems like a post grand final hangover yet ready to keep the party going.

The adage that life and business is cyclical rings true to me, just like a donut’s there is a hole in it. The hole of free time is a blurred misty visage even today, after three days. Yet the ability to be able to stop is there now and that alone is a gradual action. Easing the foot onto the brake pedal and cruising to a steady relaxing speed, coasting along without any need to speed at all on the horizon.

Added to the personal boost when I found out the Traveller apps had received some media attention. Across three newspapers it was a very pleasant surprise. Solitude is the most time consuming aspect, which goes into the development, research and creation of digital products. For a golf tragic I have not played an 18 hole competition since November. Thankfully I have began to surface the past two weeks and get in several 9 hole rounds, albeit alone.

The working times are best for me from 4am on wards, with no phone calls or other people based interruptions, I get 4-5 hours of productivity. Having experienced night shift conditions this is no great surprise. It does put a person socially out of kilter with most of the people around them. Make no doubt though it is no sacrifice, purely a work discipline and the results just add to my satisfaction of a job well done.
